Where does Murder Mystery Ottawa perform and when?
The Prescott, 379 Preston Street in the heart of Ottawa's Little Italy.
Since our very first show on February 10, 1992 we've performed hundreds of private shows - from small gatherings in our clients' homes to riverboats, resorts, office boardrooms, backyards, golf clubs, hotels, restaurants, banquet facilities, trains... you name it! Private shows are available at our place or yours, any time of the day, any day of the year.
How much are tickets?
$55 + tax and ticket handling fee. Most shows sell out. If your preferred show date is sold out drop us a line at info@MurderMysteryOttawa.com and we'll put you on a waiting list.
What's Popcorn Mystery Theatre?
Just like it sounds, our shows take place while you enjoy complimentary popcorn. No rubber chicken here! We like to give our guests the choice of where and what to have for dinner - want to eat at home before the show? No problem! Wanna grab a great meal at the Prescott? Super! You don't have to settle - you get the meal you want and then we give you an unbeatable show for a very reasonable price!
What happens at Ottawa's only Popcorn Mystery Theatre?
Doors to the Show Room open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8:00pm when you'll meet the fascinating characters (Ottawa's funniest professional actors and comedians) who all have an intriguing connection to the plot. Suddenly things take a sharp turn and the character you were just talking to suddenly ends up face-down in a bag of popcorn! Good thing not everyone is who they said they were! Our fearless flat-foot quickly rises to the challenge; bags the evidence, then rounds up and grills the suspects. With the one-liners flying fast, we narrow down our list of potential culprits and showgoers fill out a ballot. Our big finish comes right before we give out some prizes. We love working our audience into the show, so tell us about who you're with and watch what happens. In total the show runs just under 2 hours, ending shortly before 10:00pm so you still have time to enjoy the Preston Street nightlife (or get home to the babysitter at a reasonable hour).
Is there parking?
Yes, there's parking on the street and a 200-spot City of Ottawa parking lot right across the street.
How is the show rated? Can I bring the kids?
Our shows are written with an adult audience in mind, with double-entendres, gunshots and a murder or two, but no bad language. Minors 6 and older are welcome. Rated PG.
How far in advance should we get our tickets or book our group in for an eve of fun?
We recommend that you do it as early as possible. Some tickets may be available on the day of the show but most dates sell out well in advance. If a show is sold out feel free to email us at info@murdermysteryottawa.com to be put on the waiting list.
What's the showroom like?
It's a wonderful performance space that only seats 80, so you don't have to worry about being lost in a massive dining hall or awkward dance club or restaurant. There's a bar (credit card/debit only, no cash accepted) within the private showroom, plenty of places to hang your coat and washrooms located right outside the door. With a group but bought your tickets separately? No problem, notify us at least 48 hours in advance of the show and we'll seat you all together.
Is the showoom wheelchair accessible?
Regrettably, no. The showroom is located at the top of a flight of stairs.
Do we have to take part?
Absolutely not! We certainly encourage everyone to get dressed up and get involved but it isn't mandatory. If you want to chase down the suspects and question them, GREAT! If you'd prefer to just sit back and be entertained, SUPER! The comedic nature of our shows ensures that everyone enjoys themselves!
Does Murder Mystery Ottawa do anything special for birthdays?
Yes, we like to get birthday celebrators involved so when you arrive at the show slip our Stage Manager or one of our characters the name of the person celebrating and we'll do our best to pay them some special attention.
Do you sell individual tickets or do I have to be part of a group?
Come alone, as a couple or with 79 of your closest friends, all welcome!
Do you do private shows at the Prescott or off-site?
Yes, both! The Prescott has a number of dining rooms that can accommodate groups up to 120 people and we can easily add a meal to your private show, if you'd prefer. We can also take our show on the road and entertain your group of 8 - 2000 people at whichever private venue you choose, in Ottawa or anywhere else in the world.
